Floor Screed
Liquid Flow Screed many advantages
  • Fast smooth delivery to exactly where you need it!
  • Free Flowing Liquid screeds are self levelling and self compacting
  • Less labour intensive and back-breaking work
  • Around 10X faster to lay than traditional sand and cement screeds
  • Because the material is liquid base it leaves no gaps between your underfloor heating pipes, this will give the customer better feedback with a more evenly spread heat over the floor areas.
  • The depth of the screed can be significantly reduced, this allows for a thicker floor installation
  • Some liquid flow  screeds can be force dried
  • Reducing the depth also means less weight and quicker drying times
  • Some liquid/flow screeds can be walked on in 24 hours after the laying process, this can lead to less waiting for other trades and more productivity, as they are not waiting for the floor to dry out.
  • Liquid - Flow screeds are absolutely ideal for underfloor heating installations. They offer a massive advantage over traditional screeds as the reduced depths offered by these products cuts down on the heat storage properties that in turn allows the user more control over their underfloor heating system.

Main questions we get asked by our customers about different types of floor Screed Products are:

Not sure about the exact material I need for the job?
Please contact us for first-class friendly advice and we will talk you through exactly the product that you need and can supply you with a detailed survey and quotation.

The job is time-sensitive, how can I get around these time constraints as we only have a specific window of week/days?
Some of the fast-drying cement-based products that we offer can hold foot traffic after 24-48 hours after they have been pumped and levelled. Also, we have products that can be forced to dry quite safely with minimal drying shrinkage (0.05%)

The flooring has not got much depth to get over, how can we get around this problem, what type of screed?
We can supply and lay ultra-thin and eco-friendly screed products all offer an exceptional thermal conductivity quality, which is a perfect balance for your underfloor heating installations. A pure winner indeed that will assure you even further with low-cost effective energy bills in the future.

We are looking for the best quality screed material to cover our recent underfloor heat installation. What do you suggest?
Our liquid/flow screeds are more conductive, simply means the heat from the underfloor pipes gets through easier and is more evenly spread. We have screeds that can be laid ultra-thin, specially designed for the modern underfloor heating systems.. Please contact us to arrange a survey and quotation so we can tailor a solution exactly to your specific requirements.

Bonded Liquid, Flow Screed
This type of floor screed is bonded onto the substrate or sub-floor, usually using an adhesive or bonding agent, to make sure that the bond between the screed and the substrate material is very strong.

Ideal for large machinery, car parks, driveways and heavy footfall.
Bonded liquid flow screeds can offer a customer the best option if they require a thin layer of screed for any reason because it has quick drying properties, good option if a project has time issues.

Bonded screed is a mix that is poured directly onto the base, substrate, or structure that it will be laid upon.

Typical substrates are;
Concrete that was poured directly in the building or area.
Precast concrete planks
Beam and block concrete that rests on concrete beams
Metal decking, where the screed is poured directly on to these metal corrugated sheets.

Bonded screed is an ideal mix and application for areas that are anticipating heavy loading, like car parks, driveways,

Unbonded Liquid/Flow Screed
When a screed is labelled “un-bonded” it means that when the screed is installed, it is poured and levelled over a polyurethane membrane. This barrier stops the subsurface substrate below coming into contact with our chosen material. This will protect your screed as it will form a damp proof layer.

Floating Liquid and Flow Screeds
Floating screeds are unbonded screeds that usually lay on top of underfloor heating solutions, with insulation layers and sometimes acoustic properties underneath the heated pipes. So, therefore, the screed is not in contact with the raw substrate or underfloor sub-base, theoretically speaking the screed is in a floating state, sitting on top of these extra fitted membranes.

Anhydrite Flow Screeds
Anhydrite screeds are more common these days as the benefits over sand and cement screeds seem to place them in favour with builders, contractors and D.I.Y enthusiasts. The qualities they offer are lower cost, easier to lay, fast-drying, with minimum shrinkage abilities. They can be pumped to your chosen area as they come in liquid form and when laid become self levelling. What more could you ask!. No wonder they are a very popular choice. If used for underfloor heating installations, an allowance of 25mm to cover the pipes is a good practice.

Although these  anhydrite screeds offer many benefits, there are a couple of pointers to be aware of which could cause potential problems if not addressed correctly.

Substrates and Sub-Base Preparation.
Most modern liquid screeds are being laid this way and their popularity has gained traction over recent years.
The proper preparation of these sub-bases is critical to the success of the whole project. The whole intended floor needs to be sealed and tanked with no breaks, holes or gaps for the liquid screed to escape. The proposed area should be 100% watertight ready for the application of our chosen screed product.  The great advantage of liquid flow screeds is because they are in liquid form they infiltrate every possible crevice and voids, bonding all the elements together, which will give your underfloor heating superior thermal qualities and better overall control.

Just ring through with your measurements and we will work out an approximate price. It does not matter if you make a mistake with the measurement, as we mix everything on site. It may go slightly over or under your initial calculations, but you will only pay for the product you use, this will save you money and gives you peace of mind.

Our company has a vast experience with concrete and screed products in the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire areas, with many years in the industry. So you can rest assured that you will be taken care of from start to finish. We would like you to recommend us to friends and family, most of our work is through referrals of customers that have used our Concrete and screed services before.

Screeds are mainly used internally for flooring, sometimes to cover underfloor heating systems or to supply a thermal or an acoustic effect.
Some Screeds that are required externally will have polymers added to give a stronger and more hard wearing surface, as well as a quicker drying area if needed.
