Once the screed preparation has taken place, (something we can take care of also) the specially formulated screed can be pumped straight into the chosen area., no wheelbarrow runs that can damage doorways and underfloor heating pipes, less labour intensive, so reduced costs. If you are not sure what screed that you need for your specific job, please contact us now for professional advice on which product to use. Tel: 0115-824-3549 Anhydrite Screed Products Instead of cement being the binder, Anhydrite is now used, eliminating the cement altogether. Anhydrite is actually a waste product from the chemical industry that would have been destined for a landfill site, but it has been recycled and used as the binder for these fine screed products. They are just as strong and robust as traditional screeds but offer many other qualities.
Underfloor Screed The most common type of screed usually poured over and levelled over underfloor heating pipes as opposed to insulating materials. Ultra thin screeds can be used which conducts a good even heat flow. Floating Screed Like underfloor screed, the floating is applied on top of a layer of insulation or acoustic material with a damp proof membrane covering it. This separates the insulation from the actual screed layer Bonded Screed This screed is bonded to a mechanically prepared concrete sub-base, using a strong bonding agent or primer. Creating a maximum bond between the materials. Un-bonded Screed This screed is typically applied to a damp proof membrane to separate the final layer of screed from the concrete substrate base. What is a concrete pump? and what it can do for you
Concrete pumps are the number one method to move liquid concrete or screed. It's the most popular way now on any commercial construction site and also domestic projects to get these usually hard to move products to exactly where they are needed for application.
Forget the old days of moving with wheelbarrows over rough difficult terrain and raising big heavy cast iron buckets of concrete by crane to different floor levels, our ground and boom pumps can achieve these tasks with ease. Get the product exactly where you needs it with our efficient concrete pumps.
How do our pumps work exactly?
A very simple set-up, which is why they are so reliable, robust and always ready to go. A 2 cylinder system which runs adjacent to each other. Within each cylinder is a piston, one of the pistons pulls the liquid concrete mixture into that cylinder as the other systematically pushes the mix out. An operating valve regulates the cylinders of what you want open to the concrete hopper that is fed by the concrete delivery truck.

Which product should I choose for my project, concrete or screed?
Both of these products are made from three basic fundamental ingredients, water, cement and aggregates.
The major difference between the two mixes is the aggregate chosen to go into the mix.
Concrete has massive strength and permanence which is predominantly due to the fusion of course robust aggregates mixed within.
On the other hand, screed incorporates much smaller particles of aggregates than concrete, which in turn produces a smoother texture.
When first viewed concrete and screed can look the same on the surface, the difference will be more easier to spot when the substrates are in their liquid forms. The concrete mix will look a lot more rugged and stony in appearance. These larger stone particles will add superior strength to the set product.
The construction and building industry choose concrete as their number one cost-effective choice for creating high mechanical strength, durable structures. The beauty of this material is that it's strength increases over time. Concrete can hold up to the severest of weather conditions that mother nature can throw at it, making it an ideal choice of surface for our residential customers and their driveway or patio projects.
Screed is better used for the creation of smooth level surfaces in residential and commercial buildings. Typically used over a concrete slab, base or staircase to give a superior and more level area and finish. These flat screed areas are ideal for laying the end products, such as carpet, timber or laminate floorings. There are many types of screed now available suited for different purposes. Most modern screeds come in liquid form now, we are experts in pumping screed or concrete to your chosen area. Our services don't stop there, we are very experienced in preparing any area before the chosen screed or concrete is to be laid, we are also approved contractors to fit underfloor heating systems. Preparation is the absolute key to any screed project, especially if the underfloor heating installation is involved. We are indeed a one-stop-shop for any of the following services.

Frequently Asked questions
Q: Why the need for concrete and screed pumping?
If the concrete pouring location is in a building that's situated underground or the mix needs pouring at hard to reach heights
If you cannot mix the concrete that is required at close proximity where you would like you concrete mixture
If you need to pump concrete quickly, as you are behind on time, speeding up your project and timescale.
When moving concrete to an area that is difficult to do manually or physically using standard manpower.
The ground or terrain is very uneven, maybe dangerous and not practical using wheelbarrows.
How does your concrete pump work?
Concrete pumps work by transporting wet mixed concrete from the mixer on to the pour location. The wet concrete from a mixture truck is discharged into a hopper where an agitator keeps it constantly moving and flowing into the piston pumps twin cylinders. one in all the cylinders forces the concrete into the pipeline on the forward stroke. the opposite cylinder draws concrete from the hopper on the return stroke. The pistons in each cylinder move in opposite directions to stay the concrete flowing freely and pressure consistent.
What type of concrete pumps do you provide?
Ground line hydraulic pumps transport concrete from the hopper to the pour site through a series of connected hoses and pipes. they will reach over 100 metres along the surface and may transport concrete at around 1 metre cubed per minute. The pipes can pass and make their way around minor obstructions, elevations and travel through the insides and around buildings, delivering the product with ease.
The other kind of concrete pumps we offer our clients are boom pumps. Boom Pumps are just like ground line hydraulic pumps but instead they have an hydraulic arm which may lift and place the concrete pipes into harder access areas. It creates an ideal situation for us to navigate the lowest and most compact spots that a ground line couldn’t possibly reach. This makes them ideal for jobs concerning height and make it easy to drop pour from directly above.
What are the benefits of using your concrete pumps?
Saves on time, manpower, which also saves money!
Cleaner because it avoids the mess, spillages from wheelbarrows
Guarantees a much faster delivery and time-frame factor concerning your concrete project.
Our extended pipes can extend access to heights, depths, that are almost impossible for a wheelbarrow to do the same.
Pumps can navigate concrete through almost any obstacle or difficult access issues.
How long does your concrete pumping process take?
Nottingham Concrete and Screed can pump X1 metre cubed of concrete per minute. The concrete pumping time depends on the quantity of concrete that you will require. Concrete pumping will greatly reduce the construction time of your particular project because it is far quicker than manual labour by wheelbarrowing concrete to a set location.
Access to my property is quite difficult, would using your concrete pump services benefit me?
Yes absolutely, a concrete pump allows you to access areas that need concrete placement and deemed difficult to reach and accessible. By using and hiring our concrete reach pipes and services. It will save an untold amount of time, because there's less need for labour.
Is hiring a concrete pump expensive?
Not when you consider time factors. Hiring a concrete pump does and will incur a cost, but by pumping the concrete to a location difficult or not, will in no doubt save you money in the future in time induced labour costs.
Will I be required or need to buy more concrete when using your concrete pump?
No, there's no need. After you have hired one of our concrete pumps you'll be able to pour as little concrete or as mush as you need through our pumping system.
How far can your concrete pump hoses reach?
We have at our disposal a fleet of boom pumps ranging from 16-24 metres, and pipes that are capable of smoothly delivering concrete or screed over a 100 metres. These systems guarantee a clean fast process of placing the materials exactly where it's needed, a method which is metered, accurate, thus saving money for our customers.
Can you pump screed also?
We can pump screed to any required location for you, all types of liquid and flow screeds depending on base requirements. We can also lay your screed as we offer a full screeding service, together with preparation and underfloor heating installations if needed. Click here for screed information
Can you pump concrete in most weather conditions?
Concrete and screed can be pumped all year round. During the UK winter months, we may have to warm up the boom pumps and insulate the pipelines, this can and will not stop us from delivering your concrete. Appropriate precautions are always taken when delivering concrete in the cold winter conditions to keep with safety protocol.
Does your concrete pumping process make a mess?
Concrete pumping is perhaps one of, amongst many methods, the cleanest applications of delivering concrete to a desired area. The opposite can be said of wheelbarrows that may tip up at any time and usually leave a trail of concrete slurry from A to B. Our pipes make sure that there are not any spillages between the truck and the concrete pouring area. We will always recommend preparing a tarpaulin under the pipes and vehicle which will assist with a speedy cleanup if possible.
What about the waste material on the day of pumping the concrete or screed?
With waste, it's our customer’s responsibility to supply an acceptable area or washout receptacle for our concrete pumps on site. Unfortunately, waste disposal isn't a part of the service that we offer. The pipe will require cement for grouting before the pumping can begin. Please have a bag of cement on site prior to our arrival
Where do i go for concrete pumping in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Cheshire, South Yorkshire?
If you are in any of these county areas then look no further! As Nottingham Concrete and Screed Services will provide a highly efficient, high quality concrete pumping and screed laying set of services. We don’t rent our plant and machinery as jobs come in, we actually own both boom pumps and ground line hydraulic pumps so whatever job, project or task that you have and requires concrete pumping, we are the company to contact. If you have any questions or concerns then please do not hesitate in contacting us for a quote or friendly advice. Only too happy to help and point you in the right direction.
